Cure Kinetics of Commercial Epoxy-Amine Products with Iso-Conversional Methods

The dependence of the apparent activation energy for epoxy-amine reaction on degree conversion can be obtained by applying iso-conversional methods to non-isothermal cure data using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). application three has been utilized analysis DSC commercial high solids coatings. average fully formulated product(s) is very similar that previously reported clear coats, indicating presence additives does not influence energy. Among tested, Friedman’s method performed best in fitting experimental data. In addition, all underpredict isothermal products at two different conditions (i.e., 23 °C/50% RH and 40 °C/70% RH), showing experiments cannot capture catalytic effect water curing Furthermore, high-solids products, least 60% required achieve time when applied coating will show any tackiness T2 measured Beck Koller method).
